Spin-off

These are new business ventures, strongly linked to research conducted by the University and whose staff have a close relationship with the University.

Spin-off means any business initiative, in which the University participates as a partner, whose purpose is to use research results and to develop new products and services derived from the research activity of the University.
The Internal Rules distinguish between:

  • University spin-offs, which consider the participation of the University in the corporate structure
  • Academic spin-offs, promoted by staff members but without the participation of the institution.

The spin-offs sponsored by the University are an important professional opportunity for graduates and PhDs as well as a tool to strengthen and spread the culture of business among researchers and technicians in training.

The creation of businesses promoted by the University and in which the University, the teaching staff, researchers and technicians take part can be seen as technology transfer plus added value- in addition to specific and innovative technological knowledge, the university transfers to the productive world, qualified know-how, ensuring direct contact with the environments in which the research is developed at the highest levels.
