Extended program:
- Lexical study and written production of texts in German language (Arbeit mit Texten und Wortschatzerweiterung). The course offers a wide range of texts in order to provide learners with the fundamental tools of lexical analysis and in order to enlarge their vocabulary. The classical rules of the rhetorical school (based on a Schreibschule) and stylistic rules that characterize an advanced ability of written German are introduced. The rules of writing and stylistics are practiced in vignette description exercises based on illustrated stories. Particular attention will be paid to targeted written exercises. The course is based on a teacher-centred-teaching, which includes hours of tutorial (reading, conversation, exercises, etc.) and lektorship (CEL).
- Introduction to Translation (from German to Italian): reuse of the structures and vocabulary which the students already possess in view of text comprehension and production through the treatment of journalistic, specialized and literary texts which are suitable for both, an analysis of the basic structures of the German language and translation practice.
- Introduction to Translation (from Italian to German): development and deepening of the basic structures of the German language in order to consolidate written skills and to develop a methodology to deal with the translation of Landeskunde texts from the German-speaking countries, of journalistic texts taken from the daily and periodic press, as well as of literary texts of increasing difficulty. Moreover, so-called "parallel texts" will be used in order to allow a comparison of different translation solutions based on the student’s extensive vocabulary.

- Mediation: The aim of the course is to encourage the consolidation of the knowledge acquired in the Mediation I course through a wide range of exercises: selective non-linear listening exercises, memorization of semantic units of broader scope, exercises of articulated synthesis and of logical-conceptual reformulation of several text types, which are oriented to illustrate the linguistic-cultural complexity typical for oral communication. Furthermore, the course offers typical exercises to develop adequate strategies for interpreting and verbal and non-verbal communication in order to deepen the oral linguistic competence. The lectures focus on several text types related to economic, political and social topics in simulated communicative contexts, such as interviews, debates, presentations, inaugural speeches, welcome speeches, allocations, business negotiations, etc.
