PREMISE
The didactics of Drawing in Architecture courses pursues the objective of educating the student in the control of space through the mental construction of an interpretive MODEL.
As we know, these understandings are codified and laid at the foundation of the disciplines of architectural representation by Gaspard Monge who published in 1799 the treatise on "Descriptive Geometry": (...) provide the methods to represent on a piece of paper from a design that has only two dimensions, that is, length and width, all the bodies of nature that have three dimensions, length, width and depth, taking care that these can however be strictly defined (...). [Gaspard Monge, 1799]
The course of Architectural Surveying B (8cfu) has as its objective the refinement of these skills of understanding and communication of space (real or imagined) through the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge derived from different teachings that decline the disciplines of Drawing .
THESE TEACHINGS ARE RECONDABLE TO FOUR FOUNDATION AREAS:
HISTORY | GEOMETRY | PROJECT | SURVEY.
1_The "History of the Representation", educates the student to the understanding and control of the space, as it provides the knowledge on the role and significance of the historical evolution of the communication of architecture.
2_The "Descriptive Geometry", educates the student to understand and control the space, through the study of models and methods of representation provides the knowledge necessary to understand, measure, conceive and represent the three dimensions of space in the two dimensions.
3_The "Drawing for Design", educates the student to understand and control the space, through the exercise of the recognition, analysis and expression of the values of architecture.
4_The «Survey Drawing», educates the student to the understanding and control of the space, through the acquisition and the practice of methods of investigation that allow the deep knowledge of the spatial object, a process that allows to retrace the design process.
COURSE CONTENT
On the basis of the knowledge already acquired by the student of the second annuity is conducted a training course that provides the theoretical-applicative knowledge necessary to investigate, understand, measure, conceive and represent urban and architectural spaces.
The Surveying Architecture SURVEYING ARCHITECTURE course takes place in didactic continuity with the teachings of the first year, DESCRIPTIVE GEOMETRY, and is a prelude to the third year of the DRAWING ARCHITECTURE discipline, in which the expressive potential of the representation is further explored also in the light of the most recent digital contaminations.
