Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Economics of Knowledge.

Objectives

FORMATIVE OBJECTIVES
The course is aimed at providing the student, already endowed with a university education in the field of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Knowledge Economics, with the preparation to face adequate interpretations and analyses of real phenomena related to local economic systems and local development, which it is implemented through the networks of companies, infrastructures, organizations and public and private institutions present in the territory. The contents and aims of the course are, therefore, important elements for achieving the training objectives of the entire course of studies, among which, in particular, "the acquisition of strong professionalism with high and complex skills essential for the definition and the management of suitable strategies to face rapidly evolving and increasingly competitive contexts, with specific reference to the current sectoral, global and territorial growth and development models, as well as their sustainability ".

EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
At the end of the course, the student of the Master's Degree in Management, Finance and Development will have to know and understand the economic processes that characterize the dynamics of development of local economic systems, with particular attention to the role of innovation. The student must also acquire knowledge and understanding of the role of institutions, universities and research organizations, as well as of the Government and public finance for the purposes of local development. The final result to be achieved through the course of lessons is to lead the student to acquire a certain degree of autonomy in addressing the issues at the center of a current and fundamental research field: the role of local economic systems in goals of the dynamics of innovation and therefore of global economic development.

CAPACITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
The acquired knowledge can be applied:
- in work or research activities aimed at defining and promoting growth and development models, in research organizations, government institutions, public and private companies, consortia of companies, business and social associations;
- in activities of promotion and offer of services to the general development or of specific productive sectors, in public and private bodies (local and national) and in development agencies.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
At the end of the course the students will have acquired the following communication skills:
- to know how to adequately use the economic language related to the subject of study;
- to expose and critically discuss the results of recent scientific studies related to local growth and development.

Contents

The course includes the subdivision of the topics to be dealt with in three parts that complement each other. The relative lessons, for purposes of
teaching effectiveness, are given respecting the following order:

Part A): introductory summary of the issues and related scientific literature on the role of local economic systems (of a productive nature) in economic development.

Part B): study of recent scientific contributions on the role of local economic systems for the purpose of the propagation of innovation, seen as a set of virtuous endogenous processes, with due attention to the role of local institutions and governments and with reference to the case of Abruzzo.

Part C): consultation and critical analysis of Italian government documents containing the definition and programming of innovative public finance tools to support firms, to innovate them and to increase competitiveness and productivity.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methods are essentially the following: traditional lectures with the use of slides. The frontal teaching activities will focus on theoretical topics and will be carried out by the teacher with the opening to critical discussions with the students on the topics covered and with the solicitation to compare the theory results with the reality of contemporary economic systems. Attendance is optional, but recommended.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

The method for verifying learning is as follows: written test and oral interview conducted jointly. In particular, the written test is based on three open-ended questions, one of which relates to the content of the teaching material of part A of the program and two are related to the content of the reference text indicated for part B. Written answers are required schematic way. The oral interview is based on the topics to which the questions of the written test refer, with the aim of deepening, integrating and clarifying what reported by the student in writing the same written test. The assessment is not attributed to the two verification phases in a separate way, but in a joint way with a single overall evaluation (expressed in thirtieths) that is communicated to the student at the end of the interview.
