To provide knowledge and competence on theoretical models and clinical practice in psychology. Topic concerning comprehension and prevention of psychological issues are going examined, referring in particular to clinical psychology and psychosomatic medicine. Specifically, the course is intended to explain knowledge (in terms of theory and clinical practice) and skills (application of theoretical knowledge to clinical reality) whose acquisition will be checked at exams. Learning outcomes: The course aims to complete the training with notions and instruments that will help the student to deepen the psychological aspects of clinical psychology.
Fundamentals of clinical psychology and intervention fields. Fundamentals of psychosomatic medicine. Verbal and nonverbal communication. Defense mechanisms, doctor-patient relationship, and burnout.
Fundamentals principles of communication in professional relationships with individuals and groups. Knowledge about the mind-body relationship and its integration according to the biopsychosocial model. Knowledge about doctor-patient relationship, focusing on the potential psychological risks in health professions.

The course is scheduled in 10 hours of in-class teaching in sessions of 2 or 3 hours based on the academic schedule. In-class sessions will be constituted by discussing theoretical aspects and clinical cases. The attendance is mandatory. Absences from sessions are admitted within 25%.
Written and/or oral exam aimed to assess the knowledge, the conceptual mastery, the linguistic skills. The exam will be evaluated on a score range from 18 to 30. A score 18-23 indicates a sufficient knowledge, 23-28 a good level of knowledge, 28-30 an excellent knowledge, "cum laude" particular abilities of analysis and critical reasoning. Attendance is mandatory.
