The student will have the basic knowledge of biology and microbiology.
The teaching contributes to the achievement of the educational objective of the Course of Studies in Obstetrics to train professionals able to know the strategies of preventive medicine to the main human diseases. At the end of the lessons the student must: 1) to know the epidemiology and prevention strategies of infectious diseases 2) know how to take appropriate preventive and protective action against diseases, maintaining and promoting the health of the individual of the family and of the community.
The course aims to provide knowledge of the epidemiology of the main infectious diseases and the direct and indirect prophylaxis of infectious diseases.
General principles of epidemiology and prevention Health promotion and health education interventions Health education as safety training Epidemiology and general prophylaxis of infectious diseases Compulsory and optional vaccinations: vaccination schedule Etiology, epidemiology and prophylaxis of infectious diseases: - mainly mediated by food, - predominantly faecal-oral, - predominantly by air; - zoonoses; - predominantly parenteral spread Epidemiology and prophylaxis of the following infectious diseases - Influence - Meningitis c.s.e - Tetanus - Viral hepatitis A, B and C - AIDS - Diseases of the TORCH complex

The teaching is structured in frontal lessons of 2-3 hours according to the teaching calendar. The lessons include a strong interactive component between Teacher and Students. Attendance is compulsory.
Oral exam: the student must demonstrate his preparation by dealing in a clear and organized way with the topics requested by the teacher. The evaluation will be carried out using votes in thirtieth.
