THE HOUSE OF TWO HORIZONS / Living on the border between Nature and Architecture
Project of a single-family house in Bolognano
The course has as object of exercise the design of a single-family house in Bolognano (PE), the town, located on the edge of the Maiella park, represents a symbol of the relationship between architecture and nature. This unique condition of the Abruzzo village was determined by the presence, both from an operational and an ideal point of view, of Joseph Beuys among the most influential artists of the entire twentieth century, who produced some of his most important performances in Bolognano.
LA CASA DEI DUE ORIZZONTI will reflect on the theme of living as an archetypal and primordial act, highlighting the concept of passage and margin between architecture and nature, intending in this case to express a plurality of different and opposite meanings (city and landscape, center and suburbs, art and science, heaven and earth, woman and man, life and death, etc.) The final part of the course will be dedicated to the acquisition of greater awareness of the role of project representation through architectural design understood in its various both analog and digital declinations
The first part of the workshop involves the design of an isolated single-family house strongly characterized by the relationship with the mountain context. The design must solve the relationship between the building and nature in architectural terms, with particular regard to the mountain and topography seen as a poetic and evocative element and developing the building project at the various scales of representation. The lessons will always be accompanied by theoretical insights related to the year's theme. The course will also host 3 lessons held by renowned external guests
