The course “management of innovation” focuses on firms’ innovative processes and on the issues arising from them. The course analyses challenges and criticalities relevant the development and maintenance of an organizational structure that facilitate innovation and to the management of the key individuals in the firms innovative processes. More specifically, the course focuses on the strategic, organizational and operative dimensions of innovative processes, paying special attention to firms operating in a digital ecosystem.
There will be lectures, case studies and projects, in which students will need to try to develop or manage innovations.
The course will provide an overview of the main innovation theories and concepts such as open innovation, ecosystem, digital innovation, digital entrepreneurship, agility, platforms, data and knowledge creation and sharing etc.
Another goal of the course is to support the students to increase their proactive capacity to develop innovative and entrepreneurial organizations. Therefore, the course will introduce models and practical tools for the definition and development of innovative ideas. The definition of a business model for innovation is an indispensable element of the creation of a new business, in particular in the case of innovative and disruptive ideas.
