Prerequisites:

knowledge of the notions of physiopathological optics and ocular anatomy/physiology

Objectives

- know how to use corrective lenses based on the refractive defect
- be able to recognize alterations in binocular vision

Contents

- Knowledge of refractive errors and the mechanisms related to them
- Knowledge of the principles of normal binocular vision

Extended Syllabus

- visus execution in pediatric and adult age
- performing autorefractometry
- reading lenses using the manual and computerized lens meter
- optical correction of refractive defects
- knowledge of the pathophysiology of binocular vision
- knowledge of the innervations, actions and fields of action of the extrinsic ocular muscles
- know how to identify phorias and tropies in the covert test
