The course is divided into four modules, each of which deals with an in-depth analysis of a key theme of developmental psychology.
The first module deals with violence and maltreatment in the family context and its consequences on the development of the child and the parent-child relationship. Risk and protective factors for family maltreatment and guidelines for assessment and intervention will be discussed.
The second module analyzes the phenomenon of bullying (e.g., ethnic and homophobic), from a preventive perspective, analyzing the risk and protective factors, as well as the intervention strategies. Furthermore, particular attention will be given to the topic of gender identity and the tools to evaluate it.
The third module deals with emotional-behavioral problems in relation to the internalizing and externalizing dimensions. Individual and family risk and protective factors will be discussed and guidelines for assessment and intervention will be presented.
The fourth module deals with the main developmental disorders (e.g. learning disorders) illustrating the protective and risk factors for their onset, the main diagnostic criteria and intervention guidelines.
