This course contributes to the achievment of the educational objective of the Course of Study of Foreign Language and Literature, by providing students with the necessary lexical and grammatical knowledge of Chinese Language, corrensponding to level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Furthermore, it aims at orienting students in acquiring theoretical and episthemological knowledge regarding different modes and forms of translation, by giving them the tools and methods required to translate simple literary texts (folk tales, popular stories and anecdots) from modern Chinese into Italian.

Expected results
Knowledge and understanding
By the end of the course students should:
- have acquired a lexical baggage of ca. 1500 words and master the main grammatical structures of modern Chinese (both written and oral language);
- be able to translate from Chinese into Italian and analyse short text, both in simplified and non-simplified characters.
Making judgements
By the end of the course students should:
- on the basis of the four linguistics abilities, be able to describe and analyse texts about daily life and work.
Communication
By the end of the course students should:
- be able to clearly express themselves (both in oral and written language) on familiar topics, especially on daily life and work.
