The aim of the class is to guide students to the acquisition of level B2 of CEFR.
A special attention will be given to the composition of argumentative texts and to economics languahe.
Moreover, through Spanish-Italian contrastive analyses, students will be expected to develop a metalinguistic awareness and knowledge of semantics and pragmatics.

At the end of the course, students will :
- have acquired the reading and oral comprehension skills, as well as the writing and speaking skills covered by the coursebook
- be capable of writing an argumentative text

- have a metalinguistic awareness and knowledge of the following areas of Spanish linguistics: semantics; pragmatics

In order to access this class, students need to have oral and written comprehension and production skills corresponding to Level C1.1 of CEFR for Spanish. In order to sit the exam for this class, students must have successfully completed Spanish Language I and Spanish Language II

The course consists of: (a) classes held by the instructor(s); (b) practical sessions held by the lector(s).
The classes offered by the instructor(s) include both lectures (aimed at providing the necessary theoretical background) and seminars (with students' active participation).
The practical sessions with the lector(s) are highly interactive and are necessary to acquire the language skills needed to successfully complete the final exam.
For these reasons, attendance of both the instructors' and lectors' classes is strongly recommended.

Assessment for this class consists of a written and an oral exam.
The written exam consists of:
1) Grammar and reading comprehension test (based on the contents of the coursebook Aula Internacional and the lector’s sessions): successful completion of this test is a pre-requisite for accessing the other parts of the written exam.
2) Written composition (argumentative text)
3) Questions and exercises about economic language
The oral exam consists of:
1) Oral comprehension test (based on the contents of the coursebook)
2) Conversation aimed at testing speaking and oral interaction skills. The conversation will focus on the readings chosen by the student among those recommended by the instructor during the course. It will also aim to test the oral skills covered in the coursebook.
