The course aims to provide future graduates of the three-year courses with a preparation on the fundamental issues of twentieth-century Italian fiction and the meaning of the "Great War" through a historical-literary perspective.
The course will focus on form as a fundamental point in the construction of Arbasino's work and on his vision of post-war Italian society.

Expected learning results:
The course aims to investigate the formal techniques of writing and rewriting in Arbasino's work, analysing the constant motives within his works.
Starting with the vision of war in Alberto Arbasino, this theme, particularly rich in ideas in twentieth-century literature, will be explored in depth, analysing the most explicit manifestations through the stylistic-formal innovations of the neo-avant-garde of the '63 Group.

Knowledge and ability to understand:
- knowledge and understanding of the fundamental nodes of Alberto Arbasino's literary production through gender polymorphism;
- ability to examine texts to provide a rhetorical and formal interpretation of Arbasino's works;
- to investigate the formal cores inherent in the historical-literary context of the "Great War".

Autonomy of judgement:
- ability to elaborate a critical methodology through a macro- and micro-textual observation of Arbasino's work;
- to go back to the characterizing aspects of the analysed texts and to contextualize their socio-cultural implications.
Communication skills:
- Ability to argue pertinently on the topics covered during the course.
