The objective of the econometrics course is to provide students with the tools for analyzing questions of economic interest through data analysis. To this end, a large part of the course is dedicated to the study of the linear regression model and its applications.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
1) Knowledge and ability to understand.
The student must demonstrate knowledge of the basic tools for an econometric analysis relative to the relationship between two or more variables, in particular for what concerns the estimation of the causal effects, then to the inferential analysis distinguishing between population and sample. The student must also demonstrate knowledge of the main alternative methods that can be used to estimate the relationships of interest.
2) Knowledge and ability to applied understanding
The student must be able to formulate an econometric analysis project in all its phases: choice of the model for the verification of the relationship of interest;
choice of data; discussion of the internal and external validity of the analysis carried out; use of results to make judgments or proposals regarding the problem investigated.
3) Any further learning outcomes expected, relating to:
a) Communication skills: The student must be able to explain to the non-expert, the basics of econometrics and the results and implications of an econometric analysis.
b) Learning capacity: The student must be able to access the main databases that are available on the web and use them to develop an empirical analysis.
