SUBJECT DENOMINATION: English Advanced.

CONTENTS: Understanding the main ideas of complex English texts on concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. Regular and fluent interaction with native speakers on many different subjects. Production of clear and detailed texts on a wide range of subjects. Grammar structures to focus on: conditionals, modals, verbs followed by gerund and/or infinitive, had better and would rather, phrasal verbs, use of reflexive pronouns, relative clauses.
TEXTS: Indications will be given at the beginning of the course (attending students only). Non attending students can improve their competence in English language using books and/or online exercises at B2 level. Non attending students can meet professor D'Angelo during her office hours to determine the appropriate contents of the course for an individual study. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: Improve English language skills in the business/commercial sectors as well as for academic purpose. Consolidate the B2 English language level.
PREREQUISITES: English language (First Level Degree).
TEACHING METHODS:Oral and practical lesson. The course is based on 36 hours, divided in 3 lessons (2 or 3 hours each) per week. Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended. The final exam is the same for attending and non attending students.
EVALUATION: In itinere (attending students only) with an oral presentation at the end of the course. Non attending students will have to pass a final written exam based on different kinds of exercises (fill in the blanks, true/false, sentence rewrite, reading comprehension with multiple choice questions, etc.) to demonstrate their competence in English language at B2 level (see CEFR).
