Objectives

The course aims to improve language skills by refining the ability in stylistic analysis and translation of sectoral texts.
Knowledge of the main characteristics of spoken and written Russian; Ability of analysis of texts belonging to different functional styles of Russian language.

Contents

The course aims to develop in students the theoretical and practical skills necessary to translate sectoral texts from Italian into Russian and to perfect translation skills in the field of translations from Russian into Italian. During the course, original texts will be examined. The students must be able to identify the various text types and diversify the translation approach.

Extended Syllabus

The course will focus on the syntactic and lexical aspects of the text belonging to one of five functional styles of Russian language: publicistic (journalistic), conversational, scientific, artistic-fiction and official business (bureaucratic). The course will del with some of the main theoretical and practical aspects of the stylistic text analysis and of the RU-IT and IT-RU translation for Business and International Cooperation: terminology, phases and working techniques; translation analysis of the text; international standards. The related sectoral languages and the methodology of specialized research will be confronted.
The reading program consists of texts of social, politic, scientific and economic-commercial nature.

The exam consists of a written test and an oral test, in Russian, on the topics covered during the course.
