The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge on radioactivity and the laws of radioactive decay. Provide the basis for understanding the interaction between radiation and matter and therefore how they can be revealed. To make known the mechanisms that regulate the main nuclear reactions. Provide the foundation for understanding the effects of radiation on biological material.
To understand the main applications of radioactivity in general and analytical chemistry, in environmental sciences, in life sciences (medical, biological, agro-food applications), in dating, in industry.
At the end of the course, the student is able to recognize mechanisms and characteristics of radioactive decays, knows the fundamental principles of radioactivity measurement and knows the main applications of nuclear chemistry (medicine, energy production, environmental protection).
