Objectives

At the end of the course, the students must have acquired the basic knowledge of the principles of physiopathology in order to identify signs and symptoms of the main communication, speech and language disorders.

Contents

The course provides students with knowledge on the theoretical bases of physiopathology, focusing on signs and symptoms that characterize communication, speech and language disorders.

Extended Syllabus

- Signs and symptoms in semiotics
- Stages of language development, components of language and processes of language comprehension and production.
- Signs, symptoms identification and risk factors associated with language development disorders in the ages: 0-3 and 3-6.
- Presentation of the main signs and symptoms in phonation, oral function disorders and disfluencies.

Teaching Methods

The teaching is structured in 10 hours of lectures with multimedia support and/or distant education by online learning.

Verification of learning:

The level of learning achieved will be evaluated with a final exam consisting of an oral and/or written test aimed to ascertain the standard of knowledge reached on the theoretical contents indicated in the program.
