Objectives

At the end of the course, the students must have acquired the basic knowledge of language and learning prerequisites development and of diagnostic instruments for students attending primary and middle school

Contents

The course provides students with knowledge on the theoretical bases of language and learning development, focusing on protocols and diagnostic instruments used in primary and middle school.

Extended Syllabus

- Introduction to Specific Learning Disorders;
- Short summary of language development;
- Development of learning prerequisites (metaphonology, numerical abilities) and their assessment;
- Stages of reading, writing and numeracy skills development;
- Standardized evaluation in clinical practice: from the 1st year of primary school till the 3rd year of middle school (based on Consensus Conference 2007 and Guidelines MIUR), diagnostics protocols; clinical cases and functional profile;

Teaching Methods

The teaching is structured in 50 hours of lectures with multimedia support and/or distant education by online learning.

Verification of learning:

The level of learning achieved will be evaluated with a final exam consisting of an oral and/or written test aimed to ascertain the standard of knowledge reached on the theoretical contents indicated in the program.
