The student will have to acquire the knowledge related to the correct diagnosis and treatment of cognitive disorders in developmental age and in adults following brain damage.
The course will focus on issues related to behavioral disorders in developmental age. In particular, for diagnostic and rehabilitative purposes of these disorders, the observation tools, therapeutic models and exercises will be defined in detail.
• reflection on the theory-observation relationship in the light of theories of behavior in the developmental age; • illustration and illustrative application of some main intervention models in behavioral treatments: ABA: Applied Behavior Analysis; • Notes on evolutionary treatments: Floor Time (DIR) by Greenspan and Wieder, TEACCH, INTERACT and Denver Model. • Pathological frameworks in which it is possible to find "problematic" behaviors (Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD-Attention Deficit Disorder/Hyperactivity): how and when the professional figure of the Speech Therapist can intervene. • Foundations of Augmentative-Alternative Communication (CAA).
The student will be provided with slides relating to the lessons, accompanied by articles and reviews of the literature relating to the topics covered.
The course will consist of lectures.
The final assessment consists of an oral test and verification of learning with multiple choice tests.
