Basics of biology, human anatomy, biochemistry, pathology and physiology

Objectives

Aim of the course is to provide the student with the basics informations needed for the comprehensive care of patients with solid neoplasms

Contents

The course will deal with the basics of oncology (mechanisms of cancerogenesis, hallmarks of cancer cells, mechanism of metastasis, etc), basics of epidemiology, principles of cancer prevention, classification of main drugs used in oncology (chemotherapics, hormonal agents, targeted agents, immunotherapy) with mechanisms of action and main side effects, main malignant solid neoplasms

Introduction to oncology, Epidemiology and prevention, Clinical methods in medical oncology, Chemotherapics, Targeted therapies, Mainside effects of anticancer treatment, Main solid malignant neoplasms (breast, stomach, liver, pancreas, colon-rectum, lung, kidney, bladder, prostate, testicle, ovary, endometrium, cervix)
