Objectives

The main objective of the course is to provide the knowledge, skills, and theoretical and practical foundations for the correct use of finite elements.

Contents

The new performance standards are of complex application for designers, as they require the abandonment of simple calculation methodologies for more sophisticated techniques. For this reason, the use of computers appears to be an essential necessity nowadays. It is therefore evident the importance of knowing the basics of Finite Elements, to be aware of the errors and simplifications that are introduced in the calculation.

Teaching Methods

The teaching activity includes a theoretical part (with lectures and exercises carried out by the teacher in the classroom) and an applicative part (with assignment of simple design themes that will be developed by the student under the supervision of the teacher, according to weekly review cycles)

Verification of learning:

The exam consists in the discussion of the individual papers relating to the assigned exercises and in a written and oral theoretical test on the topics developed during the course.
