LEARNING OBJECTIVES The purpose of the course is to explore narratology of L. Tolstoy. The aims of the course include: - building on learners's knowledge and understanding of Russian literature. - developing critical and analytical skills. - enhancing learners' understanding of Russian literary texts.
TOPICS The fiction of Lev Tolstoj
This course will examine the novels of Lev Tolstoi "Kazaki" (The Cossacks), "Vojna i mir" (War and peace), "Anna Karenina". It will be guided by the questions concerning the stylistic peculiarities and the themes common to the three works.

COURSE STRUCTURE The course is structured in an amount of 48 class hours. It consists in classes of history of literature and literary criticism, and in analysis of literary works by Lev Tolstoj.
COURSE GRADE DETERMINATION End-of-semester assessment consists in an oral examination about the course topics.
STUDENTS studying ON THEIR OWN will prepare additional reference works. Please write to the teacher.
