ARCHITECTURAL RESTORATION
The aim of the course is to help train personnel capable of operating with decision-making and operational autonomy to define the state of conservation of the artifacts and implement prevention, maintenance, restoration actions, aimed at limiting the degradation processes of materials. constitutive and to ensure their conservation by contextualizing the artistic and cultural value of the works.
The primary objective of the course is to understand the aims and areas of the restoration intervention, with specific attention to methodological issues. During the course, criteria and practices will be investigated which, with a similar but distinct role and scope, are combined in the restoration project. Finally, a brief analytical-diagnostic excursus will be drawn up on the 'matter' and operating modes of the restoration.

The restoration technique:
1. The construction site of knowledge: the 'direct reading' of the work. A relief for the restoration?
2. The site of knowledge: chemical-physical analyzes for restoration.
3. Interventions of recovery and preventive consolidation of movable and immovable works of art.
4. The degradation of materials.
5. Restoration and conservation of natural and artificial stone materials.
6. The restoration of the wooden structures.

The set of traditional ex cathedra lectures on methodological issues as well as of a more general nature will be supplemented by visits to construction sites and by an exercise (workshop) that will address technical and applicative topics.
The exam will be held in written form and will focus on the topics covered in class.
During the academic year, in particular, the issues relating to post-earthquake restoration will be addressed.
