TRAINING OBJECTIVES AND OBJECTIVES
The teaching contributes to the achievement of the objectives of the Degree Course, especially with regard to the purpose of providing specialist legal expertise in areas involving ethical profiles, the protection of rights, as well as conflict resolution and mediation and training in the use of legal science methodologies and key social science tools to analyse problems in highly changing contexts. Deepening of issues related to the social and institutional transformations taking place in advanced societies is intended to show the importance of the human rights legal instrument to govern change, to resolve conflicts, and to empower behaviors.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of teaching the student will have to
• to know human rights as a new code of humanity
• knowledge of the mechanisms of universal protection of human rights
• knowledge of the fundamental rights recognised in the European institutions
• to know the ethical and legal responsibilities of companies with specific reference to human rights and environmental protection.
PROGRAM
Fundamental content of the
• Basic content:
• Human rights and foreign policy
Civil and political rights and economic and social rights
• The UN Charter
• The 1948 Universal Declaration
• International treaties for the protection of human rights
• Protection of human rights at regional level
• European fundamental rights
• The European Court of Human Rights
The State’s obligation to protect human rights
• The responsibility of the company to respect human rights
METHODS OF TEACHING
Organization of the teaching:
• 40 hours of classroom lessons;
• 10 hours of assisted study and revision of the subjects dealt with in the classroom;
•total commitment: 40 hours of lessons, 10 hours of assisted study, 100 hours of autonomous study;
METHOD OF VERIFICATION OF TEACHING
The methods of verification will consist of an oral interview in which specific questions (at least three) concerning all parts of the program will ascertain the degree of knowledge acquired by the student on the topics covered in the Course, and the ability to make critical use of the knowledge and to apply it to concrete cases.
