The student must be able to acquire knowledge in order to:-diagnose main internal medicine diseases of the adult with multimorbidities;- make differential diagnosis with other diseases (problem solving)- set a correct and adequate therapeutic strategy, with particular reference to medications, and surgery approaches (decision making).EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course the students will be able to: a) know the etiopathogenesis and naming principles of human diseases, with knowledge of medical terminology; b) know the clinical presentation and natural history of acute and chronic diseases, characteristics, mechanisms of action and indications for use of drugs;c) apply knowledge in order to: - formulate one or more diagnostic hypotheses on the basis of the patient's symptoms and clinical history; - identify the laboratory tests and the necessary instrumental procedures; - interpret the results, in light of the symptoms and of the clinical history, in order to arrive at the correct diagnosis, after excluding alternative diagnostic hypotheses;- set the most appropriate therapeutic strategies for the patient's health problems, applying the principles of evidence-based medicine. Communication skills - use appropriate communication skills with users of all ages and their families in the care process and / or with other health professionals in appropriate verbal, non-verbal and written form.
