Objectives

Acquire the etiological and pathogenetic knowledge of the diseases that can arise in pregnancy, both those induced by pregnancy and those independent of it. Learn the techniques of diagnosis and clinical management of the aforementioned diseases through the application of diagnostic-therapeutic protocols drawn up in accordance with evidence-based medicine. Knowledge of the main concepts related to cardiovascular, haematological, gastrointestinal, neurological, infectious and endocrinological pathologies. Acquisition of knowledge on the intrauterine growth of the fetus and on the physiological and pathological growth of the newborn, in the post-natal period and in the different growth periods. Knowledge of proper infant and young child nutrition, newborn screening and vaccinations.
Acquisition of knowledge about the main acute and chronic pathologies of pediatric interest.

Contents

The program includes topics in maternal-fetal medicine and obstetric pathology. In the field of maternal-fetal medicine, the main medical pathologies that can complicate pregnancy will be treated. Congenital fetal pathologies, infectious diseases and fetal growth disorders will also be treated. In the field of obstetric pathology, all pathologies related to pregnancy, childbirth and post- partum will be treated . The Internal Medicine course intends to provide knowledge on the physiopathological and clinical aspects of the main internal medicine diseases with references to problems potentially able to intersect with obstetric pathologies. Evaluation of the physiological and pathological endouterine and post natal growth of the child. Notions on newborn screening, vaccinations and the main acute and chronic pathologies of pediatric interest.

Abortion; Fetal well-being surveillance techniques (ultrasound, Doppler velocimetry, cardiotocography); Infections in pregnancy (toxoplasma, cytomegalovirus, rubella, chickenpox, viral hepatitis, HIV); Induction of fetal lung maturity; Diabetes in pregnancy; Congenital pathology of the fetus; Hypertension in pregnancy; Fetal growth restriction; Twin pregnancy; Labor induction; Maternal-fetal isoimmunization ; Preterm birth; Premature rupture of membranes; Prophylaxis of neonatal group B streptococcus infection; Heart disease in pregnancy; Thyroid disease in pregnancy; Autoimmune diseases in pregnancy; Maternal and fetal thrombocytopenia. Thrombotic pathology and thrombophilia . Anemias. Intrauterine growth. Postnatal growth. Puberty. Growth alterations. Pediatric obesity and complications associated with weight gain. Teaching Methods

The Integrated Course is divided into the 4 Courses of Pregnancy Pathology, General and specialist Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and Neonatology. In total, 90 hours of frontal teaching will be provided, divided into lessons of 2 or 3 hours based on the academic calendar.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

Oral exam. The evaluation will be expressed through a vote out of thirty as a weighted average of the single courses of the integrated course.
