The main objective of the course is to promote understanding of the pathophysiological bases of the endocrine system and metabolism, the role of prevention strategies and the organization of healthcare in chronic endocrine-metabolic diseases
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course the student must have acquired theoretical knowledge and skills such as:
- the functions of the endocrine system
-the most common endocrine and metabolic dysfunctions
- the biological and social risk factors of the most common chronic metabolic endocrine diseases as well as the health needs and priorities for healthcare intervention;
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
The student must be able to describe the biological actions of the various hormones and the consequences of their deficiency or excess; to identify the essential aspects of endocrine-metabolic pathologies in relation to prevention and organization of care.
Autonomy of judgement
The student must be able to independently and critically describe the prevention aspects and priorities for healthcare intervention of endocrine-metabolic diseases
Communication skills
The student will have to demonstrate correct and conscious use of specialist terminology when presenting content within the discipline
Learning ability
The student will have to develop learning skills and apply them in the future disciplines of the Course of Studies, will have to develop updating skills by consulting scientific publications specific to the sector as well as following second level master's degrees, in-depth courses and specialist seminars
