Teaching will contribute to achievement of the learning objectives of the Degree Course in Modern Literatures. Students will gain methodological and theoretical skills in order to know and critically evaluate children’s literature, understood as a useful tool for the planning and management of cultural and educational activities aimed at preadolescents and adolescents, both at school and in extracurricular situations.

Knowledge and Understanding
At the end of the course, students must:
-Recognise the fundamental epistemological questions regarding theory and research into literature for children and adolescents
-Recognise the relationship between the history of literature for children and adolescents and the history of educational and training processes
-Describe the social-cultural turning points that have innovated children’s/adolescents’ literature in a European context at linguistic, formal and thematic level
-Describe the emerging tendencies of publishing for children and adolescents, with special reference to new technologies and the new educational challenges of the contemporary multicultural scene. Independence of Judgement:
At the end of the sessions the student must:
-Know how to critically assess a literary text written for children and adolescents

The student must be able to:
-expound clearly, employing the technical language of the discipline, the results of study and individual research
Learning Ability
Students will be able to:
-analyse and utilise the main teaching strategies of mediation of the book, of education towards reading and promotion of literacy, which are useful for access to teacher training courses in order to teach in schools.
