The teaching contributes to the achievement of the educational objectives in the degree program in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences by providing students with basic knowledge of hygiene and preventive medicine applied to sports, concepts of epidemiology, health protection and prevention of sports-related diseases, hygiene rules for sports facilities. Know the basic elements of descriptive, analytical and evaluative epidemiology, hygiene and prophylaxis of infectious diseases, environmental hygiene.
Knowledge and understanding. The student through participation in frontal teaching activities and individual independent study will develop knowledge and understanding skills regarding the determinants of health and disease, epidemiological assessment, the various levels of prevention and risk factors in the environmental, behavioral and food fields that they most threaten health in the various age groups
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding. The student will be able to assess the presence of risk factors in the practice of his professional activity, in particular he will evaluate the behaviors and lifestyles of those who practice motor and sports activities, also through knowledge of the research methodology.
Judgment autonomy. The student will have developed behaviors capable of: interpreting the epidemiological and statistical data provided by databases and registers, selecting the correct scientific information, identifying the potential "targets" of interest for their activities.
Communication skills. The student will be able to consciously use a language pertinent to the disciplines of the bio sanitary area and the motor and sports sciences, and to recognize appropriate traditional and innovative methods and communication tools.
Learning skills. The student will be able to implement learning methods and tools to deepen the topics studied in the course, to update and expand their knowledge independently.
