Prerequisites:

The student must have acquired the concepts provided by the teaching of Psychometric I.

Objectives

Present teaching provides the aim of introduce the students to the methodology used in psychological research

Contents

The specific topics of the course are the following:
1) the importance of doing research in psychology;
2) types of research in psychology;
3) how to write a questionnaire.

Teaching of these topics regards the understanding of the principal concepts of the psychological research and their practical implications.

Extended Syllabus

The topics that will be treated are the following:
1) Psychology as science;
2) The phases of the scientific research;
3) The different research designs in Psychology;
- non-experimental research: observation method, archive search, studying individual case reports, survey;
- experimental search: true experiments and quasi-experiments;
4) how to write a questionnaire;
5) Reading a scientific article: a first approach.

Teaching Methods

Frontal lessons

The classes are organized in 16 hours of frontal teaching.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

The modality consists in a multiple choise written test.

The test consists of 10 multiple choice questions with four alternative answers (one correct and three incorrect). The test is passed with a minimum score of 6 correct answers.
