EDUCATIONAL TARGETS
In recent years, economic studies have shown a growing interest in cultural goods and activities. Cultural assets and activities can be considered resources to be allocated efficiently, so they become the object of study of economic science. The course aims to bring students closer to the problems arising from the peculiarities of these assets, trying to explain the reasons why cultural assets have their own economy, and therefore we can talk about specific market demand for the same assets. The course also aims to present in detail the various markets for artistic goods and performances, defining the functioning and distinctive characteristics for each.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Concerning knowledge and understanding objectives, the student must be able to understand in depth the behavior of individuals and companies in the various cultural sectors. The course contributes to the formation of economists that are expert in different markets and sub-markets with distinctive characteristics in light of recent socioeconomic changes.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
At the end of the course, the student will be able to rigorously analyze and comprehensively understand some of the most important issues in the economy of culture, to describe the network of economic agents, and critically evaluate public policies. The student will also be able to examine and understand macroeconomic data regarding the topics studied.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
At the end of the course, the students will be able to use the economic language adequately and to expose and rigorously discuss the mathematical relations underlying the models studied.
