EDUCATIONAL GOALS
The Laboratory of English and Experimental Economics I helps to introduce undergraduates in economics to the knowledge of the fundamentals of economic theory through the experimental methodology and the methods established within it. In line with the aims of the Bachelor's degree course in "Economics, Markets, and Development" (L33), the teaching organisation of the laboratory is divided into theoretical lectures and practical experimental applications, respecting the methodological goals of the laboratory and extra-laboratory teaching. The theoretical lectures are delivered in both frontal and participatory modes, while the experimental applications are performed by the students both individually and in groups, applying the experimental economics methodology in the field.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
After completing the course, students will be able to understand the experimental methodology applied in the field of economics and its basic methods. The specific configuration of the laboratory will also contribute to developing the critical and operational skills that will allow students to interact with each other and with the teacher and to actively interpret the real economic issues proposed in the modules constituting the laboratory.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
After completing the course, students will be able to:
(1) understand the experimental methodology in economics;
(2) understand the various experimental methods;
(3) perform an experiment as experimental subjects;
(4) interact strategically in the context of simulations and role-plays based on market dynamics.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
After completing the course, students will be able to recognise and use
experimental language. Furthermore, they will develop the ability to interact linguistically and cognitively while they perform a role play and an experiment.
