The course contributes to the learning objectives of the MA programme in Philology, Linguistics, and Literary Traditions. Moreover, it aims at strengthening and increasing students' previous knowledge in the field of Historical and Theoretical Linguistics.
Knowledges.
At the end of the course, students are required to show deep knowledge of theoretical and practical issues concerned with etymological research, in the field of both Indo-European and in Romance fields. Finally, they are also supposed to be able to critically discuss specific case-studies.
Communication skills.
At the end of the course, students are supposed to have a very good command on technical terminology of Historical and Theoretical Linguistics. They also must be ready to critically discuss some of the case-studies previously dealt with during the lessons.
