The Historia Pistoriensis by Giannozzo Manetti

Reading of and comment on the Historia Pistoriensis. On October 1446 Giannozzo Manetti assumed the sixmonth command as guardian-captain at Pistoia, long under the domination of the Florentine republic. As at other times in the career, the humanist decided to use the his official position to write a learned work, in this case the Historia Pistoriensis, the first history of the city from its origins to 1447.
In the initial part of the course, some notion will be given of the main features of mediaeval Latin.
