The course will take into perspective the many writing skills required in the university environment (dissertations, summaries, indexes, bibliographies) by reflecting on the contexts of communication and the appropriate registers in each circumstance.

By the end of the course students will have acquired sufficient skills to analyse and write texts belonging to different types of communication, demonstrating that they have developed a greater consciousness of the processes of reading, elaborating argumentative texts and writing bibliographies, essays and papers.
The course is aimed at first-year students on the three-year Servizio Sociale course and requires knowledge of the fundamentals of argumentative writing practice.

Oral exam/written with final marks.
The final assessment consists of an oral exam on the entire syllabus. The aim is to assess students' skills and in particular, an understanding of the issues discussed during the course, an appropriate knowledge of the bibliography in the course programme as well as critical and methodological abilities will be evaluated. The grading scale goes from 1 to 30 with honours (cum laude): 1-17 fail, 18-21 sufficient, 22-24 fair, 25-27 good, 28-29 very good, 30-30 with honours (cum laude) excellent.
The course contributes to the achievement of sustainability goals related to literacy.
