Prerequisites:

Students cannot take the Laboratory A in Product Design exam if they have not passed the Product Design 2 exam. It is also recommended to have taken the Interior Design 2 and Communication Design 2 exams, whose training contents could be recalled in the teachings of Laboratory A.

Objectives

The Laboratory A of Product Design plans to complete the student's training with notions and tools useful for addressing the complex issue of product innovation for business competitiveness. The training, oriented to the development of a product-system, will be completed and enriched by the integrated skills related to the teaching modules of System-Product Design, Materials and Production Technologies and Semiotics for design.

Contents

The Laboratory A in Product Design is delivered in an integrated form with the modules of System-Product Design, Materials and Production Technologies, Semiotics for Design. The project developed by students individually in the Laboratory constitutes the reference theme for the preparation and in-depth study of the degree thesis in Design.

Teaching Methods

Laboratory A takes place through the delivery of the three integrated teaching modules in the same semester, to facilitate any comparisons and additions among the different disciplinary contents, whose dissemination methods are however indicated in the individual modules.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

The assessment of the ability to apply the knowledge acquired in the various and integrated training activities takes place through a single Laboratory A in Product Design exam with the Commission composed of the teachers in charge of the three teaching modules. The exam, by a vote of thirty, takes into account the final judgments obtained by the student in the activities in each of the teaching modules and is based on the critical discussion of the innovative product solutions and on the finalisation of the knowledge acquired in the various teaching modules to the project.

The Laboratory A takes place in the second semester. For information regarding the classroom and timetables, please refer to the calendar of the CdS in Design. Attendance is optional, but strongly recommended. The final exam is the same for attending and non-attending students. The calendar of lessons, educational activities are provided at the beginning of the laboratory. For student reception hours, reference is made to the time indicated by the teachers of each individual module.
