The stratigraphic dimension of archaeology has made possible a Copernican revolution that has transformed material data into historical sources. Archaeological data are different from written data and help to produce historiographical paradigms that are different and independent from those usually constructed through the methods of generalist historiography. Thanks to its particular and direct relationship to objective sources, archaeology tells a particular and often different story.
